Welcome to the Third Annual Green Fest of Port Jefferson Village Sponsored by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Co-sponsored by the Times Beacon Record.
To introduce you to this event and the enormity of it, it is first necessary to understand the influences that created the need and excitement for such an event. In today's society, “Green” is the newest movement of our time. Everyone everywhere is becoming more conscious of our environment, and wondering how to protect and guard it for future generations. Al Gore received incredible accolades and numerous awards for his film An Inconvenient Truth depicting global warming. What is going on in the environment is affecting everyone, and the answer today is to “Go Green”, become environmentally and eco-friendly, and to start reducing our carbon footprint.
We, at the Chamber, are proactive and Green-Minded. We are hosting this event to carry out the following purposes: Purpose: To educate, inform, entertain, and enlighten people on how to make choices for a “Greener” world. (Consistent with the “Green” movement throughout the world.Secondary purpose is to raise funds for the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce for future eco-friendly, and family-friendly events. To promote sustainable ways of living, and to maintain a viable Chamber office within the Village that will continue to meet the growing and changing needs of today for tomorrow.The fest will feature:
• Sponsors • Speakers • Select Vendors/Booths of Eco-Friendly Arts, Crafts, Services, and Products • Environmentally responsible enterprises such as: Alternative Power and Light Renewable Energy of Long Island Wind Turbines Solar Panels Electric/Hybrid Cars and Smart Cars National Grid/LIPA • Local Schools Live Demonstrations Live Music Children’s Activities and Events
Location The Green Fest will be held at the Port Jefferson Village Center and along the beautiful waterfront promenade.
